Nintendo is reportedly adjusting its production targets for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States, following a holiday sales period that fell short of internal expectations. According to a recent report by Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, the company has reduced its planned U.S. output by approximately 33% for the current fiscal quarter.
The console's inaugural holiday season in the U.S. saw sales numbers reportedly decline by 35% compared to the original Nintendo Switch's launch holiday performance in 2017. Furthermore, November 2025 marked the lowest hardware sales for the region since 1995, indicating a broader slowdown in the U.S. gaming hardware market.
The reported production cut will see the U.S. output for the quarter decrease from an initially planned six million units to four million units, a reduction slated to extend into April. Bloomberg's sources attribute this decision directly to "slower demand from consumers" over the holiday period, rather than constraints from wider economic factors or rising component prices affecting global hardware production
